Matt Andersen live at Summerfolk 2012
A lone man on the stage with an acoustic guitar, during prime time on the Saturday night of the 37th Annual Summerfolk Festival... He followed a massive orkrestra of all-singing, all-dancing artists who raised the roof.
One man alone on a massive stage, facing a full house... What were the Summerfolk organizers thinking?! ... and then Matt Andersen began to play. ...and he began to sing. ... and he began to charm the audience in a gear change that almost created neck spasms. What were they thinking? I realized that only someone who (like myself) had never experienced Matt Andersen, would ask that question.
One man and his guitar and his powerful voice as he presented a repertoire of original songs which was blues in its purest form. Within minutes Matt Andersen deservedly had the audience. His soulful lyrics and incredible stage presence gripped everyone. (If it weren't so chilly out, I'd have expected to begin seeing undergarments land on the stage). His set was solid. His banter with the audience in between songs was as comfortable as a couple friends at the kitchen table with a beer. Matt Andersen was a superb choice for headliner at the Summerfolk 2012.
